Electric Power Quality

Electric Power Quality

The power quality analysis aims to detect possible disturbances in the electrical system, given the different loads installed, as well as to assess whether they are classified as power quality problems in accordance with international and national technical standards, and to point out the solutions.

The following aspects are of particular note:

- Investigate possible disturbances related to Power Quality, such as: power factor, impulsive or oscillatory transients, long and short voltage variations, unbalance, voltage fluctuations, waveform distortions and frequency variations;

- Analyze possible weaknesses in the electrical system;

- Realization of measurement campaigns with the energy analyzer for Low, Medium Voltage and High Voltage systems;

- Analyze measurements, comparing them with regulatory standards, technical standards and CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical) for classification of disturbances related to PQ;

- Present the problems encountered and point out possible solutions;

- Analysis and design of current and voltage harmonic distortion correction measures.

Phenomena analyzed:

- Voltage fluctuations and light flickering;

- Harmonics up to and including order 40;

- Interharmonics up to the 40th harmonic;

- Differential mode voltage distortion at higher frequencies (above the 40th harmonic up to 150 kHz);

- Voltage sags and short supply interruptions;

- Voltage imbalance;

- Transient overvoltages;

- Frequency variation;

- CC components;

- Disturbances in Signals of network communication systems

Analyzes are carried out in accordance with technical standards and entities:

- EPRI: Electric Power Research Institute;

- CENELEC - EN 62586;
