Protection of Transmission Lines

Protection of Transmission Lines

PWM Automation and Protection of Electrical Systems will prepare studies of protection coordination and selectivity for Transmission Lines for Industries and for the National Interconnected System up to 500 kV, with determination of the settings of the protection relays, as well as the logic selectivity and grid integration IEC 61850.

For the development of PWM Automation protection studies, it has computational resources such as: SKM Power*Tools®For Windows (SKM PTW®), CEPEL`s ANAFAS software, Calculation Scripts and Tests integrated to line protection relays, and Six-phase tester with IEC 61850 protocol (Six-phase Relay Test Case).

We offer a complete portfolio of protection coordination and selectivity studies, in accordance with the Network Procedures of the National Electric System Operator (ONS), the technical standards IEEE Standard C37.113-2005 (Guide for Protective Relay Applications to Transmission Lines) , IEEE Stardard C37.246-2017 (Guide for Protection Systems of Transmission-to-Generation Interconnections) and manuals from manufacturers of protection relays.

Transmission Line protection studies cover the following functions and logic:

- Phase and Neutral Distance – ANSI 21 and 21N;

- Line Differential – ANSI 87;

- Phase and Neutral Directional – ANSI 67 and 67N;

- Instantaneous Overcurrent – ANSI 50;
