The Bidirectional Serial Multifunctional Converter - Half Duplex (USB-RS-485/422, USB-RS-232 and USB-UART), was developed by PWM and manufactured in Brazil for application in the parameterization of protection relays, automation and control systems electrical power, industrial automation and telecommunications equipment.
The converter has, in addition to the interfaces (USB, RS-232 and RS485), a UART interface at TTL 5V level for the development and testing of Wireless, Bluetooth, Microcontrollers or FPGA communication modules.
The converter also complies with the CISPR 11 standard, being immune to conducted and radiated electromagnetic interference, with ESD class 3 protection (?16kV), peak power up to 600W (1ms).
Just look at some of its technical features:
USB 2.0 with type B connector, plug and play, asynchronous in the range of 300 to 3Mbaud rate;
RS232: 115200bps;
RS485: USB capped at 3Mbps or RS-232 capped at 115200 bps;
5V power supply via USB port for USB-RS485, USB-RS232 and USB-UART modes;
RS-232 to RS485/422 or RS-232 to UART mode with external 5V power supply (external power supply not included);
One RS-485 port with 120? termination resistor, selected via jumper;
One RS-232 port with DB-9 connector (male or female by customer choice;
One TX-RX port – UART TTL 5V, screw connector, spacing 5.08mm;
Rated current consumption: 2mA;
Operating temperature range: -40 to 85ºC;
Included: CD with instruction manual, installation driver, invoice and warranty certificate.
Warranty: 6 months for manufacturing defects;
Works in a network or point-to-point in Half Duplex mode, with up to 128 units on the network;
RS485 connector: screw connector, spacing 5.08mm, 2 wires (RX TX, A and B);
Maximum Length of RS232 Cable: 15m;
Maximum Length of RS485 Cable: 1200m (variable according to data traffic speed and cable quality);
If used to regenerate the RS485 standard in isolation, it can reach up to 2Mbps (in short distance).
